Collaborating Students
A class of twenty-eight 8th Grade students collaborated in the production of Film Two. Over a period of two months the students shared their experiences of bullying and helped shape the film script, workshoped the scenes, rehearsed and finally performed all the young roles in the 23 minute dramatized film. The majority of the filming took place within the school environment, with the general student population as a backdrop.
Dixie Gaer, Teacher: The Stories of Us process helped the students understand themselves. Their thinking was altered so they now stop to consider the effect of their actions and words on others. This was a powerful experience that has touched the lives of my students forever.
In the pages linked below, the collaborating students from Irving Middle School in Lincoln, Nebraska share their experiences of bullying, and the film development and production process. These pages will be updated over coming weeks.
For example, Britta writes: If people are able to gain as much by watching the movie as I did from making it, then it will really impact them. Because they can see it better, they'll stop it. And, when it does happen they'll know how to react to it. The movie is a great thing and will really raise bullying awareness for everyone. >More
